The diagram below shows how a biofuel called ethanol is produced.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the process of production of ethanol (a type of biofuel) in number of steps.

Overall, the production of biofuel type called ethanol and its cycle consists of different steps. Basically, agriculture harvesting and post-harvesting industrial processes made the sugar and ethanol that is then used in different vechicles.

Vechicles like cars, trucks and planes release the carbon dioxide in air which trees and plants used along-with sunlight in the form of energy. These plants (cane crops) are harvested and transported to industry for pre-processing which results in the production of cellulose.

The cellulose passes through different procedures under the strict parameters of processing. As a result of processing of cellulose, sugar is produced. Then, microbes are added to sugar to form an ethanol. This ethanol is consumed by a range of vechicles including cars, trucks and planes and meet the need of transport industry. These vechicles release CO2 into the air and this cycle continues.
