Overall4.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response falls well below the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, containing only 63 words in total. Consequently, the description of the process is extremely minimal and tangential, touching upon a few steps of the biofuel production cycle such as harvesting, adding microbes, and ethanol being used in transport, but omitting critical details and comparisons. The overview is absent, and the main features are barely reported, which keeps the response at this lower level of task fulfillment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text lacks proper paragraphing and is presented as a single, run-on block of sentences. While there are basic attempts to sequence the stages using transitional words like 'in this first', 'then', and 'after this', the overall logical arrangement is faulty. Referencing and cohesion are heavily disrupted by poor punctuation and missing structural links, making the progression of the process difficult for the reader to follow smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on words taken directly from the prompt, such as 'ethanol', 'biofuel', 'production', 'energy', and 'carbon dioxide'. There are notable word choice and word form errors, such as 'planets' instead of 'plants' and 'releive' instead of 'release'. These lexical limitations and errors are noticeable, though meaning can still be partially extracted by a sympathetic reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mainly of poorly structured run-on sentences strung together with conjunctions rather than distinct clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('by biofuel production', 'in car, truck'), incorrect verb forms ('ethanol made', 'the planets and trees grows'), and a complete lack of standard punctuation. These frequent errors obscure meaning and significantly hinder the readability of the text.
