Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response only partially addresses the prompt and fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, coming in at 115 words. While it attempts to summarize the main stages of the biofuel production cycle, the coverage is limited and lacks adequate development. Important parts of the process, such as the pre-processing and processing phases, are described in a very basic and underdeveloped manner. The overview is overly simplistic, and the overall progression is incomplete due to the brevity of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization with paragraphs separating the introduction, body details, and a brief overview, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, with frequent use of transitional markers like 'After that' and 'Furthermore' applied in a mechanical way. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the logical flow between the various stages of the ethanol production cycle.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'pants' instead of 'plants', 'Harvasting' instead of 'Harvesting', and 'emmision' instead of 'emission'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and reveal a restricted range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in complex structures and basic grammar. There are notable issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect verb forms, such as 'harvesting done by the tractor', 'cellulose transfer', and 'sugars microbes are add'. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation persist throughout the text and can cause confusion for the reader.
