Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagram illustrate the process step-by-step that ethanol calles a biofuel is how manufactured

Overall there are six different type of stages by which ethanol is manufactured.Process begins with the harvesting of sugar cane with the tractor or then goes under remain 5 process end with microbes adds in the sugar

first ,sunlight and carbondioxide made a very immortant role in making crops or harvest of sugar can after that when crops are ready to cut out an individusl cut out from the field with the help of tractor or other tools. Then crops goes under pre processing to extract usefull part of crops after that cellilose fourthly processing under factory

then after factroy process has been done it comes out in a sugar moreover sugar is merged with the microbes and then the final stage of making ethanol is done and finally ethanol are ready for use in different category of transport serviv

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the subject as ethanol production and include several relevant stages, including plant growth, harvesting, pre-processing, cellulose, processing, sugars and microbes. However, the account only partially covers the diagram: it omits the three transport modes and, importantly, the carbon-dioxide emissions that return to the plants and complete the cycle. The overview is also inaccurate when it says there are six stages and that the process begins with harvesting; the diagram shows a circular sequence beginning with sunlight and carbon dioxide supporting plant growth. Some details, such as sugar cane, are not specified in the visual. To improve, give an accurate overview of the cycle and report the main stages and outputs without adding unsupported specifics.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from plant growth and harvesting through processing to ethanol, and the use of “first,” “after that” and “finally” helps signal order. However, the paragraphing is limited and the progression is not consistently clear: the overview says the process starts with harvesting, while the later account begins with sunlight and carbon dioxide. Several stages are compressed into unclear links, such as “after that cellulose fourthly processing under factory,” and the final sentence ends without explaining the cycle’s return to plant growth. Organise the response into a concise overview and a clearly ordered description, using linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between stages.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “pre processing,” “cellulose,” “microbes” and “ethanol,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the description difficult to follow, such as “crops goes under pre processing” and “merged with the microbes.” There are also frequent spelling errors, including “immortant,” “cellilose” and “serviv,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise process language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe crops as being “processed to extract cellulose,” and say that microbes are “added to the sugars” rather than that the materials are merged.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, but the grammatical range is limited and these attempts are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “The diagram illustrate” and “crops goes,” while the opening sentence, “The diagram illustrate the process step-by-step that ethanol calles a biofuel is how manufactured,” is difficult to interpret because its clauses are not formed clearly. Articles, plurals and punctuation are also inconsistently controlled, as in “there are six different type of stages” and the run-on sequence beginning “then after factroy process has been done.” Use shorter, complete sentences first, with a clear subject and verb for each stage; then practise joining them with accurate clauses such as “After harvesting, the crops are pre-processed.”
