Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is thought that saving money for the future is essential for everybody especially to young people. I completely agree with this view because saving money for their future might save someone's loved ones life and adolescents can acquire benefits from investing money for their future.

On the one hand, saving is essential to everyone because it might cover when something bad happens. This is because life is full of uncertainty many people have the possibility of getting an accident, disease and life-threatening scenarios. For instance, someone's loved ones has gotten into an accident, in order to save their lives the family should do an immediate surgery which costs a lot. Therefore, I believe that investing money for the future can save a person's life.

On the other hand, young people investing money for their future can provide merits. That is because youngsters are turning into a responsible adults which gives them a lot of responsibility to handle such as having children, marrying someone and buying a house for their families. For instance, in the Philippines usually men are responsible for the cost of the wedding to show their love towards their brides and the family of the wife. As a result, I believe young individuals saving money for their future lessens their future financial hurdles.

In conclusion, I firmly agree with the notion because doing it can save someone's health as life is full of surprises. Moreover, young people can also receive advantages from it in terms of future financial barriers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both the general importance of saving and the particular benefits for young people, supporting these points with relevant examples: emergency medical costs and wedding expenses in the Philippines. The explanation of how savings can help in a crisis is persuasive, and the second body paragraph connects saving with future responsibilities. To develop the response further, explain more precisely how young people can build savings over time and why this is especially important for them. The wedding example is relevant, but its link to the broader claim about financial preparation could be made more explicit. Some claims, such as savings being able to save a life, are stated broadly and would benefit from qualification or further explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from emergency protection to young people’s future responsibilities is logical, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Within paragraphs, you generally explain a reason and then provide an example. To make the flow more natural, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and repeated phrases such as “I believe” and “for their future.” Some links between ideas could also be clearer: for example, the wedding example would benefit from a sentence explaining how saving in advance reduces the financial burden. This would strengthen cohesion without changing your effective paragraph structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss financial security and future responsibilities, including “uncertainty,” “life-threatening scenarios,” “responsible adults,” and “financial hurdles.” These choices show an attempt to use more specific language, and your meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “investing money” when you mean saving, “receive advantages,” and “lessens their future financial hurdles.” “Someone’s loved ones life” is also awkwardly expressed. Repeated use of “future” and “saving money” limits variety. Aim to choose precise, natural combinations—for example, distinguish saving from investing, and use established phrases such as “financial burden” or “build a financial safety net.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including reason clauses (“because…”) and a relative clause (“which gives them…”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the overall argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however. In “life is full of uncertainty many people…,” two independent clauses run together and need punctuation or a linking word. There are also agreement and article problems in “someone’s loved ones has gotten” and “turning into a responsible adults.” The sentence beginning “For instance, someone’s loved ones…” has an unclear structure, while “young individuals saving money… lessens” needs a clearer subject construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is correctly connected.
