Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays money is everything. Money gains respect. Status of a person is decided by the money. People are running behind the money, to elevate their status.Money is everything in the society.Money gives power to rule.Money makes new friends.

It is important for everyone to save money and invest money in a better way.Saving money now will help you in the future in any situations. Our grandparents use to save the money in the clay pots or in the spice boxes. They used to spend money for the things that they needed the most.Unlike the young people they do not have much addicts during their young time.Actually our grandparents have a rough time from their childhood. So they know the value of money and value that brings if you have money.

Young minds in present generation are addicts of bad habits. There are still few young minds who have career goals. Most are addicts and have financial issues.Though having the issues they take credit and spent money on useless things. When they are growing up ,they will know the importance of the money.Where as the young minds who have future plan save their money and enjoy their older time happily instead of struggling like others.

In my opinion, all the young minds should be guided by someone about the importance of money. They should also be teach the problem that arises because of the credit. The youth should be motivated to have a career plan and the advantages of having it.Firstly, the government should ban the addicts such as alcohol, cigarette ,etc. These are the main areas where people spend their most of the money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for the future. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The introduction relies on repetitive, short sentences that do not effectively establish a clear position or outline the essay's scope. While you provide reasons for saving money, the argument regarding 'addicts' and 'bad habits' is a significant over-generalization and lacks nuance, which detracts from the academic tone. To improve, ensure that your main ideas are supported with more logical, balanced examples rather than focusing heavily on personal opinions about societal habits. The conclusion introduces new, tangential ideas about government policy, which should have been integrated into the body paragraphs or omitted to maintain focus.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. Many sentences are short and choppy, such as 'Money gains respect. Status of a person is decided by the money.' This creates a staccato effect that hinders the natural progression of your argument. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Though' and 'Firstly', the transition between the historical comparison of grandparents and the current generation is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'money', 'things', and 'bad habits'. There is also some misuse of terminology, such as using 'addicts' as a noun to describe people who have bad habits, rather than 'addicted' or 'people with addictions'. The repetition of 'young minds' and 'money' throughout the text limits your lexical variety. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to finance, such as 'financial literacy', 'prudent saving', or 'long-term economic stability', and ensure you use words in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay consists mostly of simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'Though having the issues they take credit and spent money' (should be 'Despite having these issues, they take out credit and spend money'). There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'Our grandparents use to save the money' (should be 'used to') and 'They should also be teach' (should be 'taught'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. Increasing your use of complex structures and proofreading for basic verb tense consistency will significantly improve your score.
