Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, saving money has been a considerable challenge and it is vital for everyone, including young generation, to save money and have savings for their future. I firmly believe that saving money for future is crucial so as to tackle the financial issues and have a better future when they grow old.

In my opinion, the youth should be taught to manage the finances at an early age. In contrast, schools should take initiative and arrange structured training classes which will be beneficial for the childrens, where they can be learn to manage taxes, healthcare expenses and build portfolios to track their spending. Moreover, the parents can also teach their childrens to save money by introducing them in household expenditure. For instance, comparing the price of every product and purchasing them at a discounted price which will reduce the expenses.

In my experience, the elderly people of the society and the government can guide the young individuals to save money, with their guidance and experience the individuals can learn and implement in it daily life situations. For instance, the government can spread awareness to avoid the fraudulent applications and not to invest in it. Furthermore, everyone can reduce their unnecessary expenses and invest in structured plans in banking which plays an vital role in future.

To conclude, it is very important for everyone to save money for their future to have a positive lifestyle and a secure future also help anyone in need when they are facing financial crisis.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of schools and parents in financial education, and the importance of government guidance. However, the development is somewhat limited; some points, like 'investing in structured plans', are mentioned but not fully explained or supported with sufficient depth. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, restating the prompt rather than synthesizing the main arguments. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation or a more specific, illustrative example to fully flesh out the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition 'In contrast' in the second paragraph is used incorrectly, as the preceding sentence does not present a contrasting idea. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will enhance the overall flow and logical progression of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'tackle the financial issues' and 'fraudulent applications'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word forms, such as 'young generation' (should be 'the younger generation'), 'childrens' (incorrect plural of 'child'), and 'introducing them in household expenditure' (should be 'involving them in'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice and collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Common issues include missing articles ('the government', 'the youth'), subject-verb agreement errors ('where they can be learn'), and awkward sentence constructions. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in clause structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and article usage, while also attempting to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures.
