Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of financial independence and the ability to cover medical expenses. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'Asian countries' is a good attempt at an example, but it lacks specific detail to fully support the argument. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your examples with more depth and nuance, ensuring that every point made is fully explored rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'For instance', which help the flow of the text. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be more sophisticated to better link the concepts of personal responsibility and future security.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial independence' (implied), 'incomes', and 'disorders'. However, there is a reliance on simpler vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'life spending' or 'their people'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'useless things', consider 'frivolous expenditures', and instead of 'good property', use 'real estate assets'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'people will not dependent' (should be 'dependent'), 'individuals lives' (missing apostrophe), and 'in elder age' (should be 'in old age'). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article placement would significantly improve your accuracy.
