Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the importance of saving money. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you provide examples regarding education and health, the explanation of these points is basic and lacks depth. To improve, ensure that each paragraph fully explores the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments rather than listing examples. The structure is clear, but the content needs more sophisticated elaboration to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed due to fragmented sentence structures and repetitive phrasing. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') to connect your ideas more smoothly and reduce the reliance on simple, repetitive sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'save money', 'future', and 'expensive'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'health sense' and 'teens people'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more precise and academic vocabulary related to finance and personal development, such as 'financial security', 'budgeting', 'emergency fund', or 'long-term investment'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a student have'), missing articles, and incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'If he/she saving'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses, would also help improve your range.
