Student answer (Band 6.5)
In modern times, the issue of saving money for the future has become highly controversial. Although some people assert that it is essential for individuals, including young people, to save money for their future, others argue it is not important. From my perspective, I largely agree with saving money for their future and this essay will explain why.
The primary reason for my disagreement is that it is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. Saving money provides financial security during emergencies. For example, a student who has saved money can pay unexpected university fees or medical bills without borrowing. Another example is people will be able to go anywhere, whenever they want. However, people can buy anything anytime, when they want.
Another compelling argument is that saving from a young age helps achieve long-term goals and builds good financial habits. For instance, someone who saves a small amount every month can eventually afford university tuition or start a small business. Furthermore, young people can save for their wishes such as a house, car, smartphone, and a bike. Someone who saves a small amount, they can go on a long trip with their friends and they will enjoy it successfully when they have money.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that it is necessary for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future, because it provides financial security during emergencies and helps them achieve future goals while developing responsible financial habits. Additionally, saving provides financial security and helps people achieve their long-term goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the second paragraph mentions 'financial security' and 'emergencies' but then pivots to 'buying anything anytime,' which is a contradictory and underdeveloped point. The third paragraph provides relevant examples like university tuition and long trips, but the reasoning remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more nuanced explanations rather than listing examples or repeating the same points in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The primary reason,' 'Another compelling argument,' and 'Furthermore.' However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as the sudden shift in the second paragraph ('However, people can buy anything...'). Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to ensure that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial security,' 'university tuition,' and 'long-term goals.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple phrasing. There are no significant spelling errors, but the word choice is often repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'save money' and 'financial security.' To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and collocations related to personal finance and economic planning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, the sentence 'Someone who saves a small amount, they can go on a long trip' contains a redundant subject pronoun. Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and sentence construction. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and reducing redundant pronouns would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
