Many people believe that saving money is essential for everyone, including young people, because it helps secure their future. I agree with this statement, as developing the habit of saving from an early age can provide financial security and prepare individuals for unexpected situations. The reasons for the same are discussed in the ensuing paragraphs.
First and foremost, saving money helps individual to gain financial stability. It is our safe buffer for future or emergency purposes. It is essential specially young people to adopt this habit in their daily life. It reduces dependency on our parents, friends or saves us from loans. Additionally, it also helps to build a habit of good financial planning. It nullifies the unnecessary spendings and develops disciplines. If an individual wants to buy something one can make a plan in advance and save some amount for that purchase only. For instance, according to the article published in popular newspaper The New York Times stated that around 38% of youths who part times are financially independent and has a good financial habit of long term planning.
Moreover, early savings helps to secure their future better. They can start a business or buy a vehicle. They can also invest in their higher education. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of financial independence and retirement planning. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the reference to the New York Times article is vague and lacks a clear connection to the argument. While the main ideas are clear, the development could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the question regarding the importance of saving for young people.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Additionally', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel a bit repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor errors in pronoun usage occur. The progression of ideas is logical, ensuring the reader can follow the argument without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task, allowing for clear communication of ideas. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'financial stability', 'financial planning', and 'retirement'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'who part times' (should be 'who work part-time') and 'prepares the people from the retirement' (should be 'prepares people for retirement'). The range of vocabulary is adequate but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Improving the variety of synonyms and refining collocations would enhance the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('These small savings are become huge') and article usage ('in popular newspaper'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, which occasionally impacts the flow. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on consistent verb tense usage and refining sentence construction to reduce the frequency of minor errors while attempting more complex grammatical structures.
