Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is widely argued that saving money is essential for people of all ages, including the young. I completely agree with this view because saving money provides finanical security and teaches important life skills from early age.
The main reason why saving money is crcuial is that it provides a safety net for unexpected situations. Life is unpredictable, and individual may face medical emergencies, job loss or sudden expenses. If people, even young people, have a habit of saving, they will be better prepared to handle such crises without relying on loan or family members. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many families with saving were able to manage their expenses, While, those without saving struggled.
Secondly, saving money from a young age learn finanical discipline and responsibility. When, young people start saving early, they learn to differentiate between needs and wants, and they become more matual about their spending habits. This habit can benefit them greatly in the future when they need to make big investments, likewise buying a house, starting a business or funding higher education. Moreover, money saved early can be invested and it can grow significantly over time get some profit. In addition, young people should enjoy their lives and spend money rather than worrying about the future. However, balance is possible, that saving does not mean depending oneself, it simply means planning wisely.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money. It not ensures finanical stability during critical situations but also builds responsible attitude towards money that will be valuable throughout life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear and consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security and the development of life skills are relevant and well-supported with examples, such as the reference to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ideas are extended sufficiently to meet the requirements of the task. While the counter-argument regarding the importance of enjoying life is briefly mentioned, it is effectively integrated into the overall argument for balance. The response is well-structured and directly answers the question posed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'The main reason', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are minor issues with punctuation and sentence flow, such as the comma usage in 'When, young people start saving early' and the awkward transition 'While, those without saving struggled'. Despite these minor mechanical issues, the overall structure is coherent and effective.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'financial security', 'financial discipline', and 'investments'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'finanical' (repeated), 'crcuial', and 'matual'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and aim for more sophisticated collocations to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is a good attempt at using complex sentences, such as 'If people, even young people, have a habit of saving, they will be better prepared...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('saving... learn finanical discipline'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('depending oneself'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication. The student should focus on refining sentence construction and ensuring consistent grammatical accuracy to improve their score.
