Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 107 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the student expresses a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth, examples, or logical progression expected in an IELTS Task 2 essay. The response is too brief to fully address the prompt, resulting in a score that reflects the lack of sufficient content and expansion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, consisting of a single, disjointed block of text. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'because' and 'if'. The logical flow is fragmented, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. There is no clear introduction or conclusion, and the lack of transition words hinders the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. The student relies on simple, high-frequency words like 'good', 'save', and 'money'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'difficult movement' and 'many sacrifice'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the limited vocabulary often makes the meaning unclear or unnatural. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of synonyms and learn how to use words in appropriate contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'I m agree'), sentence structure, and punctuation. The use of complex sentences is attempted but is consistently faulty, leading to run-on sentences and fragmented thoughts. Basic structures are often misused, and the lack of control over grammar makes the writing difficult to read. Significant improvement in basic sentence construction and grammatical accuracy is required.
