Student answer (Band 7.5)

In today's world, saving money for the future has become an important issue. While some people disagree, I firmly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for their future because it benefits both individuals and society.

To begin with, developing financial security is one of the main reasons. This is because regular savings help people deal with unexpected situations, which leads to greater financial stability. Not only does this approach reduce financial stress, but it also encourages responsible spending, making it a practical solution. For example, young people who save a part of their income can manage emergency expenses without depending on others, clearly showing its positive impact. As a result, they become more confident when making financial decisions in the future. Therefore, it plays an important role in improving everyday life.

Another reason is that saving money helps people achieve their long-term goals. Although some people believe that young people should spend their money to enjoy life, I find this argument less convincing because saving does not prevent enjoyment; instead, it creates financial security for the future. If governments, organisations and individuals work together, financial awareness can be achieved more effectively. Only through such efforts can lasting progress be made, benefiting both present and future generations.

In conclusion, I firmly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for their future because it not only provides financial security but also supports a stable future. Although some challenges may arise, they can be addressed through proper planning and cooperation

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. Your ideas are relevant and logically developed, particularly in the second paragraph regarding financial security and long-term goals. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific, concrete examples beyond general statements. For instance, instead of mentioning 'emergency expenses' in a general sense, you could briefly describe a specific scenario like a medical bill or a sudden job loss. This would add depth to your argument and demonstrate a more sophisticated level of task development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices effectively, such as 'To begin with,' 'Not only does this approach,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader through your arguments. The progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. To improve further, ensure that the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly more seamless to enhance the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas with precision. Phrases like 'financial stability,' 'long-term goals,' and 'financial awareness' are used correctly and appropriately for the topic. While your vocabulary is accurate, it is somewhat functional. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more 'less common' lexical items or idiomatic collocations that show a greater awareness of style, such as 'fiscal responsibility' or 'mitigate unforeseen circumstances.' Your spelling is accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

Your grammar is generally strong, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is good. For example, the use of the conditional structure 'If governments... work together, financial awareness can be achieved' is well-constructed. To improve, aim to vary your sentence length and structure even further to demonstrate greater flexibility. The current writing is clear and accurate, but adding more complex subordinate clauses would elevate the grammatical range.
