Student answer (Band 6.5)

As money play crucial role each individual's life, some people believe that everyone should save money for their future. I strongly agree with this notion. This essay will give reasons for this perspective.

To begin with, it is irrefutable that in old days, people were not having enough energy to do hard work or stay focused on their work. To handle this situation, if people have some savings then it might be helpful. Moreover, in some countries such as India, where many individuals are not having an insurance. In this conditions, they have savings then could be very helpful.

Additionally, the saving can be helpful to secure future. As many citizens are not having stable source of income or a job on which they can not rely on, or in case a breadwinner looses his job then it could be problematic for rest of the family members. Furthermore, saved money could be helpful to make child's future bright. For instance, a child wants to study abroad, the parents can help his child with savings to go abroad. In addition, if people saved money and they did not used their money throughout their entire life and they are not having heirs then it might be helpful for government as well.

However, many individuals get influenced with this kind of a notions and starts saving money even they are not having enough money to fulfil their basic requirements. So, in this such cases they should avoid to save money.

In conclusion, as the savings have enormous benefits, I strongly agree with this notion. But simultaneously they also need to stay conscious about their present life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the need for financial security during old age and the importance of savings for education. However, some arguments are under-developed. For example, the point about the government inheriting money from people without heirs is somewhat tangential and lacks logical connection to the main argument of saving for one's own future. The counter-argument in the fourth paragraph is a good addition, but it could be more effectively integrated to strengthen the overall position. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of development is inconsistent.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'in this such cases', which makes the flow slightly awkward. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the transition between the main arguments and the counter-argument could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'insurance', 'stable source of income', and 'heirs'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'in old days' (should be 'in the past'), 'looses his job' (should be 'loses'), and 'get influenced with this kind of a notions'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the range and precision of the vocabulary used. More variety and more precise word choices would elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('money play', 'people... are not having'), article usage ('in old days'), and incorrect prepositional phrases ('influenced with'). Additionally, there are errors in sentence construction, such as 'if people have some savings then it might be helpful'. These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, although they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message. A greater focus on basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
