Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing with the importance of saving money. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For example, the argument about 'investing in property' is a good point, but it is explained in a simplistic way. The ideas are relevant, but they could be extended further with more specific examples or a more nuanced discussion of why young people, in particular, should save. The conclusion is also quite brief and merely restates the introduction without adding a final thought.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', but they are often used in a mechanical or repetitive way. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion; for instance, the phrase 'because of whenever' is awkward and disrupts the flow of ideas. While the logical progression is generally clear, the internal structure of sentences often feels disjointed, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. The student relies heavily on basic words like 'money', 'save', 'future', and 'things'. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'emergency' and 'invest', but these are not used with enough variety. Collocations are often unnatural, such as 'all age group people' instead of 'people of all ages' or 'do job' instead of 'is employed'. The limited range of vocabulary restricts the ability to express ideas with nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are persistent issues with verb forms ('will be can help', 'will be give benefit'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or contain unnecessary commas, such as 'In nowadays, all things are very costly so, some people believe that, it is very important...'. While the student attempts complex sentences, these are often structurally flawed. The control of grammar is inconsistent, and the errors are frequent enough to be distracting.
