Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary era, saving money is neccessary for everyone including teenagers. I agree with the statement, saved money can help people in emergencies and overcome many unexpected situations. This essay will discuss the reasons in detail in the following passages.

In each part of life people save money for different purposes teenagers save money to buy games, adults save money to buy house to start a family and elderly to save money to help their children but one reason for which all people save a part of their salary is that if there is any medical emergency they can afford their medical bills. For example, Mike Tyson a famous UFC boxer even through he spend majority of his earning he still saved 10% of his money which helped him to pay his bills when he had an heart attack.

Additionally, people do not know what might happen in the future to deal with unexpected situation like people tend to put a part of their earnings in a separate account which they will only use in emergency situations. One of the most recent example of it is COVID-19 no one know something like this was coming people who saved money to cope with unknown future were able to pass COVID-19 time with little difficulties while others had to face alot of difficulties.

In conclusion, it do not depend on age from when a person start saving money it start when a person understands the importance of money .It can be any time ethir at end of persons life or at start of its teenage years

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing with the importance of saving money. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like medical emergencies and the COVID-19 pandemic, the explanation of why young people specifically should save is underdeveloped. The example of Mike Tyson is slightly confusing, as he is a professional athlete rather than a typical example of a young person learning to save. To improve, ensure that your arguments are more thoroughly explained and that your examples are directly relevant to the specific demographic mentioned in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as run-on sentences in the second paragraph where multiple ideas are joined without proper punctuation or conjunctions. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this') would help the flow of the essay significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'save money' and 'unexpected situations' repeatedly. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'neccessary' and 'ethir', and minor collocation issues like 'pass COVID-19 time'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to finance and personal management, and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice to ensure your writing sounds more natural and academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it do not depend', 'it start'), missing articles, and punctuation errors, particularly the lack of full stops between independent clauses. These errors are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and punctuation, as these are essential for conveying your ideas clearly and accurately.
