Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is significantly important for people including young generation to save money for their future. I completely agree with this statement because saving money for the future is very crucial. Unforeseen circumstances can arise at any moment. We always have to be prepare ourselves for worst. The money is only thing that serve individuals in difficult time. The primary reason why I choose this is that old age is the most difficult time humans have in their life. In old age almost on one is able to do work on regular basis. The person who started saving money from young age or earlier will live a good life. They do not need to go at work. Now they can take care of themselves and their family with no worries and at all. Saving money primarily at young age teaches self-control, stop and build responsible adult habit. A person who preserve money also keep safe himself from falling into a debt loop Furthermore another significant reason of saving money is that you can use it as a financial security. If sudden crisis or something bad happen people should have capital that they can utilize during that time. For instance, In CORONA pandemic people were locked in their homes. The people who have money surpass the pandemic easily rather than those who do not have money. In conclusion, I strongly agree that people should preserve money because it has termendous amount of benefits and the only weapon in todays world that can help people in their worst times.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, focusing on old-age security and financial emergencies. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the point about old age is clear, the explanation regarding 'self-control' and 'responsible adult habits' is underdeveloped and lacks depth. The example of the COVID-19 pandemic is relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the long-term benefits of saving. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and ensure each point is fully explored with specific, logical consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Furthermore another significant reason' is slightly clunky. Additionally, there are issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the abrupt transition between the idea of self-control and the debt loop. The paragraphing is present, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns and references are clearly connected to their antecedents.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good life', 'bad happen', and 'difficult time'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'preserve money' (save is more natural) and 'surpass the pandemic' (survive or navigate would be more accurate). While the meaning is always clear, the lack of sophisticated or idiomatic vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include article usage ('the money is only thing'), subject-verb agreement ('almost on one is able'), and prepositional errors ('go at work'). There are also punctuation and spacing issues throughout the text. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and pluralization will help improve your accuracy.
