Student answer (Band 5.5)

I strongly agree to the statement mentioned above that everyone including young people should save money for their future.

Money is driving fuel for life. People of every age and race need money to survive at any time. Saved money may save people from unprecedented danger like suuden illness or accident. Though a frugal person is not always pleasant to deal with, but smart expenditure of money can definitely earn a good fortune.

As for the young people, their vision is usually not lit with foresight. Enjoying lives especially in youth is ofcourse what people yarn for. However often uncontrolled enjoyment causes large expense both in terms of money and time. Small savings from the young age tend to accumulate in to big ammounts by the time old age arrives. By this way one doesn’t need to save large amount at a time, just a routined small saving can brighten the future.

The greatest example i can put regarding money savings is my father. My mother and also my younger self had a lots of complaints about him as he was a very frugal person. As i have grown older, now it is understandable. My father was only a bank officer who was the only earning member of his family. He startd saving from the very first day. Now afther 16 years of his retirement we are still solvent than many others and never had to beg anyone for money. My brother is now trying to follow the footprints of my father. My personal experience and understanding over the years compels me to stand firm on my agreement with the mentioned statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, particularly the distinction between the foresight of older generations and the impulsive nature of youth. The personal example of the father provides a concrete illustration that supports the argument well. However, the development of ideas could be more sophisticated; for instance, the discussion on 'uncontrolled enjoyment' is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the long-term societal benefits of financial literacy or the specific economic challenges young people face today, rather than relying solely on personal anecdotes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'As for', and 'By this way' are present, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'By this way' is not standard English; 'In this way' would be more appropriate. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow between the second and third paragraphs could be improved with more sophisticated linking phrases to better connect the general argument to the specific personal example.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'unprecedented', 'frugal', and 'solvent'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'yarn for' (likely meaning 'yearn for'), 'routined' (routine), and 'startd' (spelling error). The phrase 'driving fuel for life' is a creative attempt at metaphor, but it is not a standard collocation. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I strongly agree to the statement' (should be 'with'), 'suuden' (spelling), 'accumulate in to' (should be 'into'), and 'we are still solvent than many others' (should be 'more solvent than'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with comma usage. While the errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in prepositions and comparative forms would be beneficial.
