Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security and personal goal achievement are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of the COVID-19 pandemic and the survey on saving habits. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; the explanation of why young people specifically should save could be more deeply explored. The counter-argument is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is brief. Overall, the response is well-focused on the task, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance', 'Further enhancing my view', and 'Conversely', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'fraction of people' used repeatedly, which feels slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas is clear, but the overall structure could benefit from more sophisticated linking between the body paragraphs and the conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'financial scarcity', 'unpredictable', and 'cherised' (though misspelled). However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'functioning of basic necessities' and 'no faith of life'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the young people', 'a fraction of people'), subject-verb agreement ('saved money could be use'), and pluralization ('youngster can fulfil'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces appearing before commas in several places. While the writer attempts complex structures, the frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score to a 6.0.
