Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of inflation, emergency funds, and the avoidance of debt. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about government austerity drives is a bit tangential and not fully connected to the core argument of personal financial management. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is relevant and addresses the prompt adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition to this', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'this assets can play crucial role'. The referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent enough to follow the writer's argument without difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'stagnant economies', 'vigilant', and 'austerity', which is positive. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'ages factor' instead of 'age groups', 'this habits' instead of 'these habits', and 'spent peaceful' instead of 'spend a peaceful'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('everyone need', 'i firmly believes'), article usage ('the surge in the inflation'), and pluralization ('this assets', 'this habits'). While the meaning remains clear, these errors are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that nouns are correctly pluralized.
