Student answer (Band 5.0)

I believe that it is very significant for everyone including the young youth to save money because saving money will allow us to stop wasting it and save it for difficult times or when you are in trouble. It helps us a lot when we are in a difficult or hard situation. I understand that when you are in a young age, all you want is to enjoy your life and do not want to get worry about anything but enjoying life does not mean you should stop saving money. This is the reality of our life that the life goes on with ups and downs. Some days are good and some days are bad. Some days are like as you expected but unfortunately some days did mot meet your expectation. For this we should prepare our minds first because if we do not prepare your mind for bad days and accept it that it is a fact, it may result in anxiety. Young people or the people of any age needs to understand the importance of saving money. Lets suppose if you had an emergency and you have to reach the hospital as soon as possible but you have no money at that time, what you will do? You may borrow money from someone or you have to ask someone to help you. What if the person you thought to help you did not come? Moreover if you have your own saved money, you do not ask others for help.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of saving money. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you provide a relevant example regarding medical emergencies, the essay lacks a broader exploration of the topic, such as long-term financial stability or investment opportunities. The argument remains focused on a single scenario rather than exploring the multifaceted nature of financial planning. To improve, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more diverse examples and ensure that your arguments are fully developed rather than restated in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into a single block of text, which significantly hinders coherence. IELTS essays require clear paragraphing to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. While there is a logical flow of ideas, the lack of paragraph breaks makes the text feel dense and difficult to navigate. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. You rely heavily on simple transitions. To reach a higher band, you must use clear paragraphing and a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'difficult or hard situation' and 'enjoy your life' are common and lack the precision expected at higher levels. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'young youth,' which is redundant. To improve, you should incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to finance and personal development, such as 'financial security,' 'prudent,' or 'contingency fund.' Focusing on synonyms and more precise word choices will help elevate your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... needs'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'if you had an emergency and you have to reach'), and punctuation errors, particularly with comma usage. Some sentences are also run-on or lack proper structure, which occasionally makes the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and tense consistency before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
