Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, consistent position. While you acknowledge the importance of saving, the argument shifts focus toward the benefits of spending for mental health and social connection. The ideas are present but remain under-developed; for instance, the claim that 'scientists support' the idea that fast food is important for mental health lacks logical depth and evidence. To improve, ensure that your main arguments directly support your thesis statement throughout the entire essay, providing more nuanced explanations rather than listing general activities like shopping or eating.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'In addition', they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not effectively link the ideas. The transition between the necessity of saving and the benefits of spending is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing does not always reflect a clear shift in topic, which makes the flow of the argument feel mechanical and sometimes confusing for the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'money', 'important', and 'spend'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'expactions' (likely meaning expectations or goals) and 'expansive' (meaning expensive). The phrasing 'Human psychcology need to be relax' shows a lack of control over collocations and word forms. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common items and more precise academic collocations, while paying closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Scientist are support', 'Human psychcology need'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain fragments, such as 'clothes...', which is not appropriate for formal writing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
