Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the essay is incomplete. The second body paragraph is cut off after only one sentence, and the conclusion is entirely missing. Because the response is under-length and lacks a full discussion of the topic, it cannot be considered a fully developed argument. To improve, you must ensure you provide a complete essay structure with a clear introduction, two or three well-developed body paragraphs, and a summary conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization through the use of transition signals like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the second paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks a concluding thought. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a cohesive conclusion makes the overall structure feel fragmented. To achieve a higher band, ensure that each paragraph contains a topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding sentence that links back to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use some relevant terms like 'financial safety net' and 'debt trap', which is positive. However, there are several errors in word form and collocation, such as 'a excellent habit' (should be 'an excellent habit') and 'big purchase' (should be 'large purchases'). The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic words hinders the sophistication of the writing. Focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'it can gives us' (should be 'it can give us') and 'funds that we saved may helps us' (should be 'may help us'). Additionally, there are errors with verb forms, such as 'avoid fell into' (should be 'avoid falling into') and 'government managed pension funds will taking care' (should be 'will take care'). While you attempt some complex structures, the high frequency of basic errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and practice with verb tenses and gerunds.
