Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is beneficial for everybody to keep money for their future use including young people. I strongly agree with the statement, and I will give my opinion and will also draw a conclusion.

On one hand, everybody must have ability of saving money as it builts a sense of responsibilty. Additionally, it keeps the young people away from bad habits and they always try to keep their money aside in case they need money in future. For instance, it makes the young people independent in doing their chores. They use their saved money in the time of need whenever they face any sort of financial difficulty in their life.

Moreover, parents also play a very important role in teaching their children to develop sense of saving money. When the elderly people in a family develop a hobby the younger one's also try to do so. In this way, the young people also develop good habbits by following their parents.

On the other hand, some people think so it is useless activity. They believe that people earn money to fulfill their dreams and they waste money on useless things with the mindset that they earn to use money not to save money. In this way they waste money in useless activities.

In my opinion, the habit of saving money for future in everyone icluding young people is a good activity. I think that every society must promote this in their children.

To conclude the dicussion, saving money develops responsibility in young children and also makes them independent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that saving money builds responsibility and independence, these points are not fully extended with concrete examples or deeper analysis. The counter-argument section is brief and lacks depth, as it simply labels the opposing view as 'useless activity' without exploring the economic or psychological reasons why some might prioritize immediate consumption. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a specific, well-explained example or a more detailed logical progression.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help the reader follow the flow of ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'the elderly people in a family develop a hobby', which does not clearly link back to the concept of saving money. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'keep money' instead of 'save' or 'accumulate capital', and 'bad habits' or 'useless things', which are somewhat generic. There are also minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'builts' (builds), 'habbits' (habits), and 'icluding' (including). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to finance and personal development, and pay closer attention to spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'the younger one's also try' (should be 'ones') and 'everybody must have ability of saving' (missing article 'the'). There are also awkward phrasings such as 'some people think so it is useless activity'. While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent enough to keep the score in the 5.5–6.0 range. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic articles and plurals would be beneficial.
