Student answer (Band 6.5)
In contemporary society, it necessary for people of all ages especially the young ones to save money for their future. In my opinion, I completely agree with planning financially for the future because it prevents poverty and reduce crime rate.
These points will be explained in the following paragraphs with relevant examples followed by a logical conclusion.
To begin with, saving money for the future provides a future, free of lack and want, especially when the individual has been able to build up a reasonable amount of wealth through saving. With poverty out of the way, they are able to make proper financial choices and accomplish set goals. For example, Tunde had a fixed deposit where money was saved for him from birth by his parents, when he reached adulthood, he used most of the finances, investing in properties and businesses which was so profitable.
Furthermore, when plans are been made for the future, it provides a more healthy environment free from crimes as people are financially responsible and stable either through employment or businesses. This creates a long term National security as everyone including the government will be able to make adequate investments to support the society. For example, education provides knowledge and skills needed to get employment, which brings financial freedom and reduce criminal activities.
In conclusion, it is important for people of all ages to plan financially towards their future especially the younger generation as this helps to prevent poverty and reduce crime rate there by increasing the overall wellbeing of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding poverty prevention and crime reduction are relevant, though the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the link between saving money and national security is a broad claim that could have been more effectively supported with more specific reasoning. While the examples provided, such as the case of 'Tunde', are relevant, they are slightly anecdotal. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are more thoroughly extended and that the connection between personal saving and societal outcomes is explained with greater depth and logical rigor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive links to avoid a formulaic structure. Overall, the essay is easy to follow and the logical progression is maintained throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary society' and 'financial freedom'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'future, free of lack and want' or 'long term National security'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'it necessary' (missing verb 'is'), 'reduce crime rate' (should be 'reduces'), 'plans are been made' (incorrect passive voice), and 'there by' (should be 'thereby'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tense usage, and the correct formation of passive structures.
