Student answer (Band 6.0)

Unanimously, in this period of modernity ,many people tend to save money while others don't .This has been the prominent topic of discussion amongst people . Well, in my opinion, I strongly disagree with this given notion and the supporting view will be discussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion .

Firstly, supporting my disagreement to the given statement ,I firmly have a belief that people should not save money and enjoy their life . Some people keep saving their money and miss all the good things in life . Young people should focus more on investing their education skills rather than simply accumulating savings . Spending money on books , education ,courses ,skills, will increase their chances of getting a high paid job in the future . Using money for self improvement is much better rather than simply saving it .

Secondly, Saving too much money can prevent young people from enjoying important things and developing social skills Participating in hobbies ,competition and spending time with their friends to contribute to their personal growth and career . To Exemplify, a young people who spends money on travelling may learn about other cultures , other cuisines and become more independent and confident in their life .

In conclusion although saving money is beneficial to some extent and should not be completely ignored . I disagree that it considered to be very important specially for young people . In my opinion young people should maintain a balance between savings and spending money on education or personal experiences .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the necessity of saving money for young people. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention investing in education and social experiences, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the example of a young person travelling is a good start but is not fully linked back to the core argument of why this outweighs the long-term security of savings. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation of the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims, rather than just listing activities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally weak. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph feels abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on simple list-like transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accumulating', 'prominent', and 'self-improvement'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'investing their education skills' (which should be 'investing in their education') and 'high paid job' (which should be 'high-paying job'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more academic synonyms for everyday words like 'good things' or 'important'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar. For example, there are several instances of missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'books , education ,courses'), incorrect article usage ('a young people'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('it considered to be'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. To improve, proofread your work specifically for punctuation spacing and ensure that plural/singular nouns are used correctly with articles.
