Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 86 words. Because the essay is incomplete and stops abruptly after the introduction and the start of the first body paragraph, it fails to address the prompt fully. The position is stated, but there is no development of ideas or supporting arguments. According to the IELTS criteria, a response that is severely under-length and fails to develop the task requirements cannot progress beyond a Band 4.0 for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response shows an attempt at paragraphing, but because the text is so brief, it is impossible to assess the logical progression of ideas. The use of cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'For instance' is present, but these are not followed by any substantial content. The overall structure is incomplete, which prevents the demonstration of a clear, logical flow of information. The text is too short to evaluate the effective use of referencing or paragraphing beyond a basic level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally accurate but limited in range. Phrases like 'prominent topic of discussion' and 'financial securities' are appropriate for the context. However, the limited length of the response restricts the ability to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary or the use of less common lexical items. There are no significant errors in word choice, but the lack of depth makes it difficult to award a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is generally clear, with few errors in the sentences provided. There is an attempt at complex structures, such as 'supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly have a belief that...'. However, the sentence 'including younger generation' is missing an article ('the'). Given the extremely limited output, the range of structures is restricted, and it is difficult to judge the candidate's ability to maintain accuracy over a longer piece of writing.
