Student answer (Band 6.0)

Unanimously, in this period of inflation, it is essential for everybody, including younger generation, to have financial savings for their future. This has been the prominent topic of discussion amongst people. Well in my opinion, I strongly agree with this given notion and the support toward my view will be discussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

Firstly, supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly have a belief that people should build financial security and resistance towards unnecessary expenses. For instance, life is unpredictable and the financial crisis can fall upon us at any time. Therefore, being prepared for it is a survival skill for us. It could be health emergency or Carrer related one. People usually go into debt because they do not plan for these unfortunate events.

Secondly, another supporting aspect in favour of this statement is, there is no paradox that being financial independent can benefit you significantly. Some people invest their savings for greater return instead of spending money on needless things. To exemplify, my mother invests her savings into real states for buying lands and high profitable buildings while, neglecting her own needs she thought about future planning. The young people can save their money and invest early on to build a financial habit and develop a resilience toward unwanted expenses. Moreover, they can plan their retirement at an early age and be free from many finance related responsibility, they can spend their remaining time with their loved one with a breath of fresh air.

In conclusion, I pen down highlighting that the aforementioned given pointers heavily support my sense of belief regarding financial savings and its independence which are worthy enough to strongly support my viewpoint. To make it more effective a joint effort is needed by the parents, students and citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on financial security and investment. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph provides a clear reason (unpredictability of life), the second paragraph relies heavily on a personal anecdote about the writer's mother, which is less effective than a more general argument. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that all arguments are fully extended with logical analysis rather than relying on personal examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'I pen down highlighting that'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the mother's real estate investments and the general advice for young people could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'unpredictable', 'financial independence', and 'resilience'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Carrer related one', 'real states', and 'high profitable buildings'. The phrase 'breath of fresh air' is used somewhat idiomatically but does not fit the context of financial planning perfectly. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision in word choice and occasional spelling errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, such as 'younger generation' (missing article), 'the financial crisis can fall upon us' (inappropriate verb choice), and 'finance related responsibility' (missing hyphenation and pluralization). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with comma usage, particularly in the second paragraph where run-on sentences occur. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would improve the accuracy significantly.
