Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is believed that everyone needs to save money for their future, including young people. I strongly agree with this view because saving money for future allows people to meet their urgent needs and can be invested in businesses or other financial sectors as well.

I believe that Saving money is crucial for everyone as people can use it in their emergency. Human life is full of unexpected incidents. Any financial crisis can be arrived in any stage of individuals' lives and in most cases, the crisis can be solved by enough financial settlements. Here's come, when saving money can be required much more. For example, when the main earning member of a family gets serious ill, the family members are required to have enough money to tackle the problem. If they have enough savings, they are supposed to solve the problem easily. On the other hand, if they don't have enough allocated money, they will need to suffer a lot. Therefore, saving money can be very much helpful in terms of urgency or emergency.

Another main reason is that people need enough capital to invest or to launch a business. Right investment is one of the best ways to become affluent. By investing properly, anyone can be financially independent and well-off. Furthermore, if anyone wants to start their businesses, there will need to have enough capital. Thus, saving money can directly help people to be more financially secure and solvent.

In addition, by saving money, everyone, especially young people, gets self-conscious about financial demands and requirements. Furthermore, people want a stress-free and secure life in their old age. Therefore, savings are needed to meet this demand.

To conclude, I strongly support this idea that people should save money for their future, which will be required in their urgent moments and allows them to invest in business.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on emergency funds and investment capital. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the points about 'financial independence' and 'solvent' in the second body paragraph echo the earlier points about 'financial crisis'. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be more nuanced by exploring different types of savings or the psychological benefits of financial planning. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, such as emergency funds or investment. Cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Therefore' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate. To improve, you could vary the cohesive devices further and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on standard linking words at the start of every sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficient for the task. You demonstrate an ability to use topic-specific terms such as 'financial crisis', 'capital', and 'affluent'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'Any financial crisis can be arrived' (should be 'can arise') and 'gets serious ill' (should be 'becomes seriously ill'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Incorporating more sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions would enhance the lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'Here's come, when saving money can be required' and 'there will need to have enough capital'. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly hinder the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of modal verbs. Increasing the variety of complex structures, such as using more conditional or passive constructions, would also help demonstrate greater control.
