Student answer (Band 6.0)
The idea of saving more money for a persons future needs has gained traction especially in the case of younger people who are advised to save as much as they can for their future. This essay agrees that saving money is of the utmost importance as it helps in money management and budgeting and helps to limit bad financial habits like overspending of money on flashy items.
Firstly, spending money in a limit is very important especially for younger people who struggle with managing money and are unable to reduce their expenses. By saving money both younger and older people can create budgets around the remaining amount available helping to eliminate unnecessary expenses. This amount can be saved overtime and an emergency fund can also be created. Additionally, a person can also buy assets like cars, house etcetera by saving money in the long run or even used the saved up money for retirement or funds for college.
Furthermore, saving money helps to eliminate bad financial habits . Overspending is one such habit. Saving money helps to control such urges of excess spending as one feels awkward and self accountable with time as the habit solidifies it helps to rewire a persons brain. In the later stages of life this habit of saving helps avoid the traps of debt and interest payments limiting the opportunity cost.
While critics may argue that due to inflation saving does not have an impact in real monetary terms in the longer run. While this is true to a certain extent, many tend to ignore the other side of the argument. The people who spend excessively contributes to cost push inflation as people buy much more than what the suppliers can produce due to limited resources , driving producers to the point where there is a huge surge in prices of products .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. You provide relevant reasons for your agreement, such as financial management, the avoidance of debt, and the long-term benefits of asset acquisition. The ideas are generally well-developed, though the final paragraph regarding inflation is slightly tangential and could have been more tightly linked to the core argument of why young people should save. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your central thesis with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the 'young person' perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition into the counter-argument in the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing is consistently clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'financial habits', 'opportunity cost', and 'cost-push inflation'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'spending money in a limit' (should be 'spending within limits') and 'self accountable' (should be 'self-accountable'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the overall range is adequate rather than wide. To achieve a higher score, focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing like 'saving money' which appears frequently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('a persons future', 'a persons brain'), punctuation issues (missing commas), and subject-verb agreement errors ('people who spend excessively contributes'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization and possessive apostrophes, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
