Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention the importance of saving, the second body paragraph introduces a contradictory argument about spending money on luxuries, which weakens your initial stance. The ideas are often presented as lists rather than being fully extended or supported with logical reasoning. For example, the mention of 'land' is a good start, but the explanation of why it is a superior investment is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your thesis and provides a clear, logical progression of thought rather than shifting focus mid-essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. Phrases like 'subsequently' and 'further' are used mechanically and often do not fit the context of the sentences. The connection between ideas within paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. For instance, the transition from discussing saving to the counter-argument about spending is abrupt. Using a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'money', 'things', and 'important', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'an crucial thing', 'archive huge dreams' (likely meaning 'achieve'), and 'levied' (used incorrectly in the context of enjoying life). To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms. Expanding your range to include more academic vocabulary will help you convey your arguments with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with article usage ('an crucial', 'the individuals'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For example, 'most for up coming generation' is grammatically incomplete, and 'there is only one born' is an unnatural phrasing. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty or contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
