Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people opine that saving money for the coming future is really essential for not only adults but also young people. I totally agree with this view.
There are some compelling reasons why saving money is crucial for future life. To begin with, nowadays, people are becoming more consumerist. That is why, they spend a sufficient amount of money on various expensive products such as clothes, foods and technology devices even if there is no need for such items. Consequently, they do not have adequate economical support for their future, which in turn make them suffer financially. For example, the students who has spent their part time job's salary on buying gadgets, they may not pay their tution fees when they get admitted in a university.
Secondly, adults should save their lifetime income for their older age. If they do not have enough balance in their bank account for surviving when they become retired from their profession, they might have to suffer more in that age. Moreover, people have to think about their next generation as they have a responsibility to make their children's lives financially secure. For example, some adolescents often do hard work to income more money for maintaining their living as well as education, because their parents did not leave sufficient savings for them. So, in every part of our life, money plays the most crucial role for surviving.
In conclusion, it is clear that people should be saved enough money for their older age and their future generations, and students also have to save which can help them to pay for their education.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on consumerism and the necessity of savings for retirement and education. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding students and tuition fees is a bit generic, and the argument about adolescents working to support their parents could be more clearly linked to the prompt's focus on saving for one's own future. While the position is clear, the essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of the 'extent' of the agreement, perhaps by acknowledging potential counter-arguments or providing more detailed real-world examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The use of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Consequently', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the phrase 'in every part of our life' is a bit vague as a concluding thought. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the problem of consumerism to the necessity of long-term financial planning. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'consumerist', 'economical support', and 'financially secure'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'income more money' (instead of 'earn') and 'people should be saved enough money' (passive voice error). The range is sufficient to convey the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. The vocabulary is functional but rarely sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('students who has spent'), incorrect verb forms ('people should be saved'), and awkward phrasing ('make them suffer financially'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of these grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but control over these structures is inconsistent, leading to occasional errors that slightly distract the reader.
