Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that it is essential for everybody, including infants to save money for future purposes.
To begin, i strongly agree that everyone should save for the rainy days,, there are days that demands may exceed the basic salary due to health of a sudden hike in transportation that may require more cash to be spent for a few days, for that reason i would agree that people should endeavour to save as much as they can. Reason because, over my years of living on planet earth i have come to realize that there are times that salary may not be paid as at when due and in those circumstances i fell back to what i had saved in the past which sustained me until when i received my pay cheque from the company i was working for. Based on that incident i am of the opinion that everybody should save and avoid financial wastage as things can change at any given circumstances.
Moving on, encourage both children to save money is a way of instilling financial discipline in them and also this can contribute to eliminate some form of financial pressure in them as they grow older they would become better financial planners. For example when my first daughter was 6 years, she was gifted some huge amount of cash on her birthday, surprisingly, base on the teachings she had received from us the parents she proceeding in saving this cash in her piggy box which she brought out years after she noticed cash was needed to spend on meals at home due to late salary payment.
In conclusion, this essay focused on encouraging both adults and young ones to have a positive flair in saving cash as needs may rise at any given circumstances.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, focusing on financial security and the importance of teaching children financial discipline. However, the development is somewhat limited. The example regarding the daughter is personal and relevant, but the essay would benefit from more generalized, academic arguments to support the position. The introduction mentions 'infants,' which is a slight over-generalization of the prompt's 'young people,' but the overall argument remains focused. To reach a higher band, ensure that ideas are expanded with more depth and that the scope of the argument is consistently maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin,' 'Moving on,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Reason because' and 'Based on that incident.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and sophistication to move beyond a Band 6 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'instilling financial discipline' and 'financial wastage.' However, there are also instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'positive flair in saving cash' and 'salary may not be paid as at when due.' Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive structures rather than a more sophisticated or varied lexicon.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('days that demands may exceed'), punctuation (double commas), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. For example, 'Reason because, over my years of living on planet earth...' is grammatically incorrect. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures and refining punctuation would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
