Student answer (Band 5.5)

Money has always been a topic with multiple opinions. Many people believe that saving money is the crucial need of time. While some believe spending money on whatever they like because they believe we line once and should live life to the fullest.

I agree and disagree little bit with both aspects of saving and spending money. As far the idea of spending and saving, ideally a person should spend money according to their need and capacity. one should never be too generous and too stingy.

A person who values time , efforts and money, do not do things over the top. instead he always chooses balance approach. he always separates money for urgent reasons. A person can encounter many unplanned circumstances, so instead of borrowing from other, he will go for his savings. this habit of saving money save people from long term stress of debt.

Those who spend money recklessly ends up being in debt, stress, anxiety and aggression. Parents should encourage the habit of saving money in their children. Studies have shown those who adopt sense of management and discipline in early childhood end up living peacefully.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt by discussing the importance of saving, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. The position is somewhat unclear, as you state you 'agree and disagree little bit,' which is not a strong or consistent stance. To improve, you must expand your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'instead' and 'those who,' the flow between sentences is often mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs lack a logical, cohesive thread. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing such as 'crucial need of time' and 'over the top.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'live life to the fullest' (which is a cliché) and 'sense of management.' To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and precise collocations that demonstrate a better command of the English language in a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('A person... do not do things,' 'those who spend... ends up'), missing articles ('the' before 'urgent reasons'), and punctuation errors. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, aim to construct more complex sentences with greater accuracy to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
