Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 172 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or illustrative examples. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the supporting points are brief and lack the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you must expand on your arguments by providing more detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph is fully developed to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by the brevity of the content. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the main reasons' and 'Another reason', but they are somewhat mechanical. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the concluding paragraph is repetitive and does not effectively summarize the main points. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring a smoother flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You use basic terms like 'good habit' and 'difficult times', which are repetitive. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'job lose' (should be 'job loss') and 'financially strong' (should be 'financially stable'). To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to finance and personal development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'why are strongly support' is grammatically incorrect, and 'there are argument' lacks proper pluralization. Additionally, there are issues with sentence fragments and missing articles. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound. Proofreading for basic errors like 'i' instead of 'I' is also essential.
