Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on financial discipline and security in old age. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'financial discipline' is repetitive, and the explanation of 'old life' issues is slightly underdeveloped and relies on generalizations. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or deeper analysis of how saving impacts long-term economic stability rather than just listing basic needs like food and shelter.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced or repetitive. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun usage in the second paragraph ('he started save money'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would significantly improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial crisis' and 'financial discipline'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'securer future life' (should be 'a more secure future') and 'livings peacefully' (should be 'live peacefully'). The range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your points more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it help ensure', 'saving money provide'), incorrect verb forms ('he started save money', 'he can successful to buying'), and article usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures.
