Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention the rising cost of living and the dangers of overspending, the arguments lack depth and specific, logical analysis. For instance, the example regarding Los Angeles is vague and does not clearly illustrate how saving specifically impacts wealth in that context. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a clear, well-reasoned explanation that directly supports your thesis rather than restating the same point about money being important.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the idea of rising prices and the example of Los Angeles is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are repetitive, such as the repeated mention of 'future' and 'saving money,' which makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical rather than fluid. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'money,' 'saving,' and 'future,' and there are some awkward word choices, such as 'save currency' instead of 'save money' or 'save funds.' The phrase 'it is your signature' in the conclusion is unclear and does not fit the context. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to personal finance, such as 'financial security,' 'fiscal responsibility,' or 'economic stability.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone want to save'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'saving their for future'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'affect them through different'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction and grammatical rules.
