Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money and acknowledging the counter-argument regarding the impact on present quality of life. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about job security is relevant but could be expanded with more specific detail or a more sophisticated analysis of economic instability. The argument regarding the 'present life' is a good addition, but the explanation remains a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and nuance rather than relying on brief, repetitive examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the benefits of saving and the counter-argument could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to improve the overall flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'many people suffers' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'in recent scenario' (unnatural collocation). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'money issues', 'important', and 'better'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and less common lexical items. For example, instead of 'money issues', use 'financial instability' or 'economic hardship'. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many people suffers', 'parents saves', 'people looses') and article usage ('the future', 'the costs'). These errors are noticeable and occur consistently. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over basic grammatical rules prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy is essential for a higher band.
