Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, covering emergency situations, financial responsibility, and future goals. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'young people' is mentioned but not explored in depth, and the argument regarding loans is slightly confusing and lacks a clear connection to the main thesis. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that directly supports your main argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'second of it' and 'Despite this view'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs could be smoother. While the overall progression is clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words and occasional issues with referencing (e.g., 'it's own') mean that the cohesion is not yet fully fluent or natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'good habits' and 'difficult situation' repeatedly. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'upcoming time' instead of 'future' and 'east' instead of 'easy'. To improve, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology. While your meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, preventing a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'weather' instead of 'whether', 'Life does not go smooth' (should be 'smoothly'), and 'in term of finance' (should be 'in terms of finance'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect apostrophe usage (e.g., 'it's own'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score.
