Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is important for everyone to save money for their future, especially young people. I agree with this idea because saving money can be useful when people have problems and it can also help them for their future needs.
Firstly, saving money is very important because sometimes people have unexpected problems. For example, a person can lose their job or they can have a problem with their car or house. If they have money saved, they can use this money when they need it. Young people should start saving money when they are young, but many young people spend their money on expensive phones, clothes and going out with friends. Because of this, they do not have enough money when they really need it.
Another reason is that saving money can help people to buy something important in future. For example, young people can save money for buying a house, getting education or starting a small business. These things are expensive and they need money. If a person save some money every month, they can have more money after some years. For example, if a student save 100 dollars every month, he can save 1200 dollars in one year. This money can be use for his study or other important things.
In conclusion, I agree that people should save money for their future. It can help them in difficult situations and for buying important things. Young people should also learn saving money because it is a good habit for their future life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, with specific examples provided for both unexpected expenses and long-term goals. However, the development is somewhat basic and repetitive in its structure. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments or explore the societal implications of saving, rather than focusing solely on individual financial management. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the importance of emergency funds to long-term investment goals. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the development of the argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite simple and repetitive. Phrases like 'important', 'money', and 'young people' are used frequently. While the meaning is always clear, there is a lack of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to finance, such as 'financial security', 'fiscal responsibility', or 'long-term investment'. The spelling is accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'if a person save', 'if a student save') and minor prepositional or article errors. The control over complex structures is inconsistent. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and increasing the variety of complex sentence forms, such as using conditional clauses or relative clauses more accurately.
