Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as financial security and long-term goals, but they are often under-developed. For example, the mention of 'urgent repairs' and 'family responsibility' is a good start, but the explanation lacks depth. The argument is consistent, though the final paragraph introduces a slight contradiction regarding whether one should save 'all' the salary versus balancing it. Overall, the response covers the requirements, but the development of ideas needs more nuance and logical expansion to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In present days' and 'sach as a' are used repetitively or incorrectly. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'they use they money', where the pronoun usage is confusing. While there is an overall logical progression, the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the lack of variety in linking words makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but limited in range. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the save money provide', 'full fill the families demand', and 'unnecessary spendings'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial security' and 'long-term goals', but the overall control is inconsistent. Spelling errors, such as 'sach', 'hous', 'childran', and 'fainancial', occur frequently, which indicates a need for more attention to basic lexical accuracy and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people... they should save'), article usage (e.g., 'the save money'), and prepositional errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. The student needs to focus on sentence construction and ensuring that verbs and nouns agree correctly.
