Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security and the impact of AI on employment are relevant and well-supported. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the point about overconsumption is a bit tangential to the core argument of saving for the future. While the position is clear, some ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarizes the main stance. Overall, the response is focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Conversely' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the transition between the point about AI and the point about overconsumption is abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be linked more fluidly to improve the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'innovation', 'unemployment', and 'luxurious', which are used correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it is often argue' (should be 'argued') and 'financially capability' (should be 'financial capability'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('money can be earn', 'everyone... should save') and article usage errors. Punctuation is mostly functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable and occur with enough frequency to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy would be a key area for improvement.
