Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is crucial for every individual including youngsters to have some amount of savings for future security. I completely agree with this notion due to the fact that it provides financial security in emergency and to achieve personal milestones in life.
The primary reason behind my agreement is that in situations of financial crisis or in unforeseen circumstances like health emergencies, savings tend to provide materialistic support to the people. Moreover, it helps to avoid debt or situations of loan in emergency situations. Therefore, it helps to reduce stress related to money and helps to deal with situations conveniently. For instance, in extreme situations, it helps to pay a hefty amount of hospital bills in case of medical emergency. Therefore, it is beneficial to save money for unavoidable and serious situations.
Furthermore, it is widely believed that a huge amount of financial investment is required to build skills and to satisfy the individual's personal materialistic desires. In other words, savings provide an advantage of making independent decisions. For instance, certain personal dreams such as travelling to the dream destinations can be convenient with the help of personal savings. Therefore, it gives a person the freedom to plan their life as per their free will without any financial pressure. Hence, it is essential to save money to live a healthy and happy life.
In conclusion, I strongly affirm that saving money provides financial freedom and is beneficial to meet the personal desires. Moreover, it provides support in case of unforeseen situations. Therefore, it is important to save money for safety of the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security in emergencies and personal autonomy are relevant and logically extended. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, where the focus on 'materialistic' needs and 'unforeseen situations' overlaps. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more distinct, nuanced examples—perhaps contrasting the long-term benefits of early saving (compound interest) versus short-term gratification. The conclusion effectively restates the position, ensuring the response remains focused on the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason,' 'Moreover,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in their structure. The referencing is clear, and the progression of ideas is consistent throughout the text, meeting the requirements for a Band 7 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some precision. The student uses phrases like 'unforeseen circumstances,' 'financial crisis,' and 'personal milestones' appropriately. However, there is a tendency to repeat words like 'situations' and 'materialistic' (which is used slightly inaccurately in the context of personal goals). The range is adequate for the task, but it lacks the more sophisticated, less common lexical items required for a higher band. The word choice is generally accurate, and there are no significant errors that impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a good control of grammar, using a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and punctuation is generally handled well. There are minor issues, such as the phrase 'situations of loan' (which is non-idiomatic) and the slightly awkward phrasing 'materialistic support.' These errors are infrequent and do not impede the reader's understanding. To achieve a higher band, the student should incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional clauses or passive voice, with greater consistency.
