Student answer (Band 5.5)
Inflation has expanded a lot with the passage of time. Saving money for future is an important concern today. Young people should understand the importance of saving money for future. I agree with this statement appropriately. In this essay, I will discuss about the reasons of agreement and disagreement regarding this statement and draw the conclusion.
There are several reasons of agreement. Firstly, If they have money, they will able to cope with the raising prices of things. Secondly, by saving money they are able to face ups and downs of life. Thirdly, If they have enough money they will invest in orphanage or homeless that proves beneficial for them. In addition, saving money develop the sense of responsibility on individuals mind.
Some people argue about this statement because, they think life is temporary so, enjoy the present time. They have no interest in savings along with, they are enjoying the basic necessaries of life. In contrast, savings also help us to fulfill the basic needs.
From my perspective, saving money is dominant across the lavish spender. A spendthrift spends thousands of money on brands just for the sake of internal satisfaction that quite wrong. This type of act leads to the cause of discrimination between society so, such type of behavior should be discouraged through proper awareness and guidance that waste of money is a major sin.
In conclusion, everyone has its own opinion but a balance approach is required to maintain the healthier and productive environment that will prove beneficial in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about investing in 'orphanage or homeless' is vague and lacks a logical connection to the main argument of personal financial security. The essay mentions discussing both agreement and disagreement, but the 'disagreement' section is underdeveloped and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or logical explanations for your arguments rather than listing points briefly. The conclusion is present but could more effectively summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition', but these are somewhat mechanical and repetitive. The transition between the argument for saving and the counter-argument is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences lack clear logical flow, such as the transition from discussing 'lavish spenders' to the 'cause of discrimination'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some basic terms repeatedly, such as 'money' and 'saving'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'inflation has expanded a lot' (inflation rises or increases) and 'lavish spender' (which should be 'lavish spenders' or 'extravagant spending'). The phrase 'major sin' is also stylistically inappropriate for an academic essay. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'they will able to cope' (they will be able to), 'saving money develop the sense' (saving money develops), and 'everyone has its own opinion' (everyone has their own). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage after introductory phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct modal verb usage would be highly beneficial.
