Student answer (Band 6.0)

Money is one of the biggest necessities for a human being. The survival is not possible on the blue planet if we do not have savings. Money is an everyday requirement to meet our day-to-day expenses. To exemplify, we required money for purchasing groceries, for medical emergencies, school fees and other multifarious purposes. I completely agree with the statement that everyone should understand the importance of saving money for their future.

To commence with, future is so unpredictable. A person may face a medical emergency at any time. Nowadays, medical facilities are getting more expensive day-by-day which is not affordable for the person earning less income. This situation can simply be solved if a person has an enough amount of savings with him. To exemplify, lots of insurance companies are offering different kinds of insurance with very less premium rates like health and life insurance which are really useful when a person has long bills with them. They have to invest a small amount as a premium which will be helpful to them during the future crisis.

Furthermore, the younger generation has the dream of studying abroad and in reputed universities which required lots of investments. With the increase in competitive era, the educational institutions are getting more costly because of the adaption of modern technology to make the learning more interesting and engaging for the students. The young people should develop a habit of savings for achieving their goals of studying in foreign countries instead of wasting money on purchasing products of expensive brands.

Although, savings help us to live our life without worrying but sometimes it leads us to miss various memorable moments at present. We denied going with friends on an outing as we considered it as unnecessary expense. We cancel various trips that also required to relax our minds and spend some quality time with our loved ones.

To conclude, saving is foremost necessity for a human life to live our life hassle free. One should develop this habit at a younger age so that they should have enough funds to deal with the future circumstances.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. The ideas regarding medical emergencies and educational goals are relevant and well-supported. However, the development of the counter-argument in the fourth paragraph is slightly underdeveloped; while you acknowledge the downside of saving, you could have more effectively linked this to the 'extent' of your agreement to create a more nuanced argument. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay follows a logical progression, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'This situation' refers back to a broad concept rather than a specific noun). Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central ideas are clearly linked, which is characteristic of a Band 7.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'multifarious', 'unpredictable', and 'reputed'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'very less premium rates' (should be 'much lower') and 'adaption of modern technology' (should be 'adoption'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these occasional inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching the Band 8 level. The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The survival is not possible' (article usage), 'we required money' (tense inconsistency), and 'an enough amount' (incorrect determiner usage). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the overall meaning of your arguments. To reach a higher band, you should focus on improving subject-verb agreement and article usage, as well as ensuring consistent verb tenses throughout your paragraphs.
