Student answer (Band 6.5)
Accumulating funds helps us to make suitable career choices and allows people to try out new things.
Having savings, protects our choices and decision making. In fact, it is prevalent that without financial back up plans, one has a higher potentials of making poor choices. For instance, I started saving with my mums account when I was twelve years old, and the most compelling career to me as at then was being in the military as it requires just little financial cost to enroll in. My savings was accruing over the years, until my final year when I decided to go for nursing instead, as I found it more fulfilling. The cost of going into nursing school was enormous, but the savings I have accumulated for years, played a crucial role in seeing my dream come through.
Money plays a significant role in helping us invest in things that we are passionate about. It is said that money buys freedom and is often referred to as the 'root of all evil', but is predominant in ensuring that we comfortably bit skepticism without fear, when trying out things we are not knowledgeable about. Young people are often enthusiastic in diversifying and exploring different things, of course, some of which requires money. Having savings enables them to comfortably explore opportunities which may turn out to be rewarding for them. For instance, Kenneth, a good friend of mine in high school, saved an enormous amount of dollars, in his crypto currency wallet, which he used to purchase 100 pieces of bitcoin at $11 in 2017. That single risk he took, went on to make him a millionaire today as bitcoin comfortably sits at over $80,000.
Saving for the future, offers security without the fear of breaking and also plays a central role in decision making.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt by arguing in favor of saving money for the future. The position is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the personal anecdote about nursing school and the example of investment. However, the development is slightly uneven; the second paragraph is more detailed than the first. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and repetitive of the introduction. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a balanced level of depth and that the conclusion synthesizes the main points more effectively rather than just restating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'In fact', 'For instance', and 'However' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the unclear pronoun usage in the final sentence. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, but the connection between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be more seamless to improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'accruing', 'skepticism', and 'diversifying'. There are, however, some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'bit skepticism' (likely meant 'combat skepticism') and 'breaking' (which is unclear in context). The phrase 'mums account' lacks an apostrophe. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the precision is inconsistent, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Having savings, protects' (unnecessary comma), 'potentials of making' (should be 'potential'), and 'as at then' (awkward phrasing). Subject-verb agreement and punctuation issues occur throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of full control over complex structures. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and refining punctuation would significantly improve the score.
