Student answer (Band 6.5)
Money plays a vital role in everyone's life. Some people believe that saving money for the future is significant for everyone, including young people. I strongly agree with this view because saving money will help in unexcepted situation and promotes developing financial management skills, and help young people achieve their goals.
To begin with, saving money can provide financial support in emergency and unexpected situations. Life is unpredictable, and emergencies such as medical expenses, sudden loss of a job or urgent household emergencies can occur at any time. Having sufficient money can help to overcome these unexpected situations rather than relying on loans or credit cards. Moreover, saving money from a young age develops independence at an early stage, so young people don't depend on their parents for minor expenses. For instance, if a young person loses their job or needs to pay an unexpected medical treatment, having personal savings can overcome the problem. Therefore, saving money for the future helps in emergencies and promotes financial independence.
Furthermore, some young people aspire to pursue higher studies, so they can start saving early, and these funds can help them achieve their goals rather than take on excessive debt. In addition, this can help them to manage the money more properly by organising expenses very carefully. For example, an engineering student wants to pursue a master's degree; financial funding would be very helpful rather than a study loan. Hence, financial savings can help young people achieve their goals and develop financial management skills.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that saving money for future use is crucial for everyone, as well as young people, as it helps people in unexpected emergencies and provides independence. For young people, it will help them develop better financial management skills, and it can be useful to achieve their goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly addressed all parts of the prompt, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay. Your ideas are relevant and logically extended, particularly regarding the benefits of financial independence and the avoidance of debt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are slightly more detailed; for instance, instead of a general mention of an 'engineering student', you could briefly explain how a specific savings plan would mitigate the need for high-interest loans. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' effectively to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. To improve, ensure that the transition between sentences within paragraphs is smoother; some sentences feel slightly repetitive in structure. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas with precision. Phrases like 'financial management skills', 'unpredictable', and 'pursue higher studies' are used correctly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'unexcepted situation' (should be 'unexpected') and 'financial funding' (which is slightly redundant). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and less common lexical items to demonstrate a wider range. The current vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. While many of your sentences are error-free, there are occasional grammatical slips, such as 'rather than take on excessive debt' (should be 'rather than taking on') and 'an engineering student wants to pursue' (which lacks a clear connection to the previous clause). Punctuation is generally accurate, but ensure that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly to avoid run-on effects. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures would further enhance your score.
