Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is essential for everyone, especially youngsters to save money for their future from very early on in their career. Although, there are individuals who would disagree with this opinion, I think that these savings are of a great help when planning a retirement and also in cases of emergency. Additionally, it also provides people with a psychological safety net and freedom.
Firstly, saving money for their future helps individuals during retirement. Due to a rising trend of having no children, people generally do not have anyone to take care of themselves during their old age, especially when their health is deteriorating. In these circumstances, it is very necessary for them to have some sort of financial safety that would not only take care of their medical expenses, but also their food and clothing costs. Additionally, these savings also acts as an emergency fund during the time of any unfortunate events.
Moreover, these savings also provides individuals with a psychological safety which brings mental peace. In the absence of any funds, individuals face mental disturbance, essentially when they loose their job, and thus it forces them to do some odd jobs in order to cover their living expenses. Alternatively, if they have saved any money, it would also help them to live with peace during that unemployment period. On the contrary, there are people who believe that individuals should not give much importance on savings and life in a carefree way experiencing everything they can with their money, but it is not a much rational and long term thought according to me.
To conclude, all the individuals, especially those who are young, should focus on saving money from early on in their career as it would help them to live with mental peace and help them in their old age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, focusing on retirement planning and psychological security. The argument is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development could be slightly more sophisticated; for instance, the discussion on 'odd jobs' is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the macroeconomic benefits of saving or provide more nuanced examples of how young people can balance saving with current needs. Overall, the response is well-focused and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'On the contrary' to link your points. While the structure is sound, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always smooth. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall flow of the argument is coherent and easy to navigate.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'psychological safety net', 'deteriorating', and 'unfortunate events'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'these savings also acts' (should be 'act') and 'loose their job' (should be 'lose'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or formal synonyms will help elevate the tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these savings also acts') and minor punctuation or spelling slips ('loose' instead of 'lose'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'it is very necessary for them to have some sort of financial safety'. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with precision. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you reach a higher band.
