Student answer (Band 5.5)

Bright future belongs to those who actually work for it. Money is something everyone should earn in order to live a balanced and happy life. It is very significant part of life because money is necessary for education, to buy household items, for healthy balanced diet. Everyone including young individuals should save money for their future.

People earn money to fulfil their needs. But many people spend money on unnecessary items and shoppings. Spending money in that way is actually a waste of money. Instead of doing this people must have to save it for their future expenses. People should buy household items from budget stores. They should avoid spending money on daily hoteling. So that they should be capable of saving some money.

In my opinion, it is a suitable approach to save money for future. Nowadays many people doing great jobs and many people running their own businesses. In addition, many young individuals have appropriate government jobs according to their professions. But when they will reach to their sixties they would be retired from their jobs. So it is important for them to save money for their future. People must spend their earnings only to buy important and useful items. In contrast, individuals should avoid expensive items.

In conclusion, it is very clear that when people will reach to their peak age and when they would not having jobs and any other way of earning then the savings must be helpful for them. Therefore, adults and young individuals must pay attention towards money saving for their bright future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, focusing on the necessity of savings for retirement and the avoidance of unnecessary expenditure. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'budget stores' and 'daily hoteling' is a bit simplistic and does not fully explore the broader economic or psychological implications of saving for young people. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples or counter-arguments to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the importance of saving to practical tips and finally to the long-term benefits. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'In addition' and 'In conclusion' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Some referencing is also slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this' in 'Instead of doing this', which could be more precisely linked to the previous sentence's concept.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'money', 'items', and 'people' throughout the text. While the meaning is always clear, there is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. For example, instead of 'daily hoteling', a more natural term would be 'frequent dining out'. Expanding your range of synonyms and using more academic collocations would significantly improve your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'It is very significant part of life' (missing article), 'many people doing great jobs' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'when they would not having jobs' (incorrect verb form). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would help improve your accuracy.
